Who Are We?
We are an independent registered charity linked to the Civil Service Insurance Society (CSIS). We have a board of independent Trustees and we are regulated by the Charity Commission.
CSIS is a highly successful not-for-profit insurance intermediary, authorised and regulated by the Financial Services Authority (FSA), which markets insurance products exclusively to civil and public servants. To find out more about CSIS click here.
The annual trading surplus of the Insurance Society is paid into the charity under a Deed of Covenant. The aim of the charity is to put that trading surplus to good use, helping to relieve need, hardship and distress amongst serving, former and retired civil and public servants and their dependants, either directly, by helping organisations that can help them, or by action in the communities in which they live. The charity’s independent Trustees use the funds to make discretionary grants. Some of these are made direct to individuals, but most grants are made to other civil and public service charities and not-for-profit organisations who can help the charity achieve its aims.
The section “who we help” gives information about some of the individuals and organisations we have recently supported. Further details are given in the Trustees’ Annual Report and Accounts
